Case Three

Young adult female who struggles with overwhelming and distressing emotions. Client engages in self harm behaviors such as cutting self with razors. A No Harm Agreement was created in which the client signed. Therapies currently being used are Dialectical Behavior Therapy, by educating on distress tolerance, radical acceptance and mindfulness. Session also included focusing on strengths of client and positive attributes of client as a person. Client has been guided on the creation of positive affirmations to say daily, addressing negative thoughts and creating alternate ones. Through our work, client was able to create healthier thoughts and reduce harm to self. Client hopes were restored and client strengthened her mental endurance to better cope with distressing emotions.
